Move over Dynamo – there’s a rival show in town! Ever wanted to wow friends with your mathemagical wizardry? Want to baffle audiences with arithme-tricks? Blow minds with some presti-digit-ation? Well, say “algebra-cadabra” and your wish will be granted! In this course, students will learn mathematical magic tricks and have the chance to explore the theory behind the illusions. By exploiting principles of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and probability in the magic, we aim to showcase the power of maths. Tricks will involve cards, coins, calculators and more, with all equipment and tutorials provided. This course is designed to be accessible and stimulating for all, with no particular level of maths required.
Classroom based courses will be limited to a maximum of 12 pupils. Pupils will be socially distanced within the classroom and will be asked to bring their own personal equipment. Pupils will sit at the same desk each day, and any ICT equipment will be labelled so the pupils use the same device all week. Classrooms will be supplied with antiseptic wipes for any shared equipment.
