MasterChef – Week 2

Course Details – The Perfect Baker

Age: 7-10

AM

Cost: £221 (Early-Bird: £199)

Even Mary Berry and Delia Smith had to start somewhere! From cupcakes to traybakes, cookies to scones, this course explores an extensive range of baking techniques and it aims to give young people an exciting and successful start to their baking career. Each session will focus on working through the terminology and techniques used in recipes, following them logically to produce a scrumptious masterpiece! The complexity of each recipe will vary every day ranging through the sweet and savoury. A folder of recipes used will be provided for annotation throughout the week for all to take away (along with your tasty treats, if they survive!).

Covid-19 Update

In order to try and manage the risks in this course, pupils will have their own ‘area’ with equipment which won’t have to be shared, any equipment which must be shared will be wiped down with antiseptic wipes when there is a change of user and cookers will be operated by the tutor/assistant tutors and regularly wiped down with antiseptic wipes. There will be no overlap of recipes between the different types of Masterchef courses.

Age: 11-14

Learn how to cook delicious, flavoursome meals that don’t take hours to prepare. A perfect way for keen chefs and bakers to explore efficient cooking and feel confident creating simple meals, quickly! This course will help beginner or more experienced cooks to hone their skills with a different theme every day. Cooks will be able to build up a repertoire of fun, fool-proof dishes that are bound to impress friends and family in a fun, safe and hygienic way. A folder of recipes used will be provided for annotation throughout the week for all to take away (along with your tasty treats, if they survive!).

As far as possible, we will be sticking to the ‘Meals in Minutes’ themed course but if some recipes prove impossible, they will likely be replaced with some baking recipes. There will be no overlap of recipes between the different types of Masterchef courses.

Tutor Profile

Millie Diss obtained a degree in Applied Sport Science from Edinburgh University and is a PE teacher at The Perse. Millie is an incredibly keen, self-taught baker who is always looking for excuses to bake for others. She is excited to share her tips, tricks and passion with the next generation of bakers.
